Challenges:
The owners of this home wanted to change both the siding and the roofing as well as add an attractive new entry to the front of the home. In adding the new steps and front porch, we found the pitch of the roof to be an issue.

The Solutions
For the front of the home, a new porch entry area was added. All the siding was replaced with Crane Board siding with an insulation panel behind the siding to add extra insulation as well as a greater impact resistance. The front porch addition caused the pitch of the roof to form a triangular valley area on each side of the added entry roof. To keep this area water tight we added a custom bent metal pan flashing and soldered it into the new metal valley.

The Results

  • This home went from basic to stunning in its curb appeal
  • The remodel featured engineered Craftsman-style detailing designed to make the house more inviting and striking at a distance.
  • Inside, the home was significantly enhanced with a wonderful new formal entry

Challenges:
The owners of this home had looked for a new home for nine months, and ultimately decided to stay where they were and remodel their existing home. Key complaints that were addressed in the remodel included the fact that the home had no strong curb appeal, no architectural "pop", and no detail.

The Solutions
This existing siding on this house was cedar shake. That had been replaced in the 60's with 8" Masonite siding that was in desperate need of repair. The homeowners had painted this house only a few years prior and the paint was already pealing and the siding was rotting. The homeowners wanted to go back to the original look without the maintenance. The vinyl shake ended up being the perfect solution.

The other issue the homeowner had to deal with was a garage with 2 separate garage doors. This made it challenging to park their vehicles. We decided the best option was to eliminate the 2 doors and install a single door. Timberland Exteriors completely rebuilt the opening adding a new header to accommodate the single door.

The Results

  • This home went back to its original look and feel.
  • The garage door is now easier to enter and leave and allows for more flexibility with bringing in a boat or small camper.
  • The homeowners have fallen in love again with their house.

Challenges:
This home is a 1863 historical home that had aluminum siding put on in the early 70's. The aluminum siding and roofing was hit by hail and the house was now designated a historical home and protected by the rules of the Historical Society. The rules would not allow for Aluminum to be put back on and the house would need to look identical to its original look in 1863. Only problem, since it was covered by the aluminum siding nobody knew what the original look was.

The Solutions
Timberland Exteriors had several meetings with the members of the Historical Society to explain how we would achieve the original look. The home owner found some pictures of the home from before the aluminum siding was put on. We were lucky also that the front porch, inside the entry area, still had on the original siding and door trim. This allowed us to custom mill trim to match identical to what was original. Also existing originally was a decorative rope molding that ran against the soffits of the house. This was recreated with a an architectural foam millwork called Azek. During the removal of the aluminum siding we found the original siding still on and photographed each wall to add back the detail that had been covered up.

The other challenge was working with the insurance company to make sure the home owners were reimbursed accordingly. The entire project was covered by the insurance company. The only cost to the home owners was their deductible.

The Results

  • Stunning!
  • We brought the past back to life by recreating all the detail from the wood drip edge along the base of the home to the drop molding on the eaves.
  • By using James Hardie siding and Owens Corning 30 year shingles this homeowner can now enjoy the look without having to worry about maintenance for years to come.

Challenges:
The owners of this home wanted to bring back the original look of the turn of the century home. The siding and roofing were both being replaced and small original details were important to the homeowners.

The Solutions
For the entire home, Timberland Exteriors replaced all the siding with James Hardie Cedarmill siding in a 5' lap. We also removed the storm windows from the front porch and opened the area back up to enjoy the outside. We added custom gable vents and cross head window trim as well and a wide board at the base of the home to give it that historical look and feel.

The roofing was replaced with Owens Corning 30 year shingles and a custom rubber flat root was replaced on the back of the home. This had on it a vintage wood railing that was removed and replaced. New gutters were also added to finish the job.

The Results

  • This home now has the look it deserves.
  • The siding will last for the life of the home and with the new roof they won't have to worry about the outside of their home for as long as they live in the home.

Challenges:
The owners of this home had outdated boring siding on their home and wanted a fresh new updated look.

The Solutions
For the front of the home, Timberland Exteriors installed cultured stone to both the garage face as well as the small bay window by the front door. We then installed a vinyl shake siding on the upper level of the garage and the upper "bump" out area on the house. A frieze board was added between the brick and shake area of the garage and then wrapped in aluminum for a lifetime protection. The remaining parts of the home were covered in a 20' vinyl siding which will eliminate about 80% of the seams.

The shutters were removed and a wide trim board was installed around the windows instead. A new garage door tops off the project. With new brick, new siding, new garage door, and new lights everything about this house says curb appeal.

The Results

  • Beautiful! We were given many compliments on this home during and after form neighbors, and sometimes just folks passing by who would go out of their way to tell us how nice it looked.

Challenges:
The owners of this home wanted to create curb appeal. The sides and back of the home had maintenance free siding already on it but the front needed something. They sent us several pictures of neighbors homes but had no idea what they wanted their house to look like.

The Solutions
This was a perfect job for our design software. We asked the homeowner to send us a digital photo by e-mail and we went to work. Our design software allows us to enter the homeowners house and make changes to it on the computer. Adding brick or stone or windows or doors, this software does the thinking for you. Imagine how hard it is to look at a small sample and know what that is going to look like on your home. Our software takes the worry out. We will bring in the computer with your picture on it and make the changes with you in your home. Add a window, remove a door, no problem.

The Results

  • These homeowners were able to see what their house would look like before they spent a dime. They helped design to customize the home to look exactly like they wanted. From new lights to new door, they have a beautiful new home
  • Curb appeal!

Challenges:
This home had Asbestos siding put on the home in the 50's covering up the original siding. The siding needs to be properly abated and disposed of.

The Solutions
When we removed the asbestos siding from the home, we found an extensive amount of rotten wood that had been covered over in the past. This was left to continue to decay over the years and cost thousands of dollars to repair. We never know what we will find until we remove old siding, Unfortunately, sometimes we find extensive damage that had been hidden for years. It is good then that these repairs can finally be done and not continue to worsen. Other times we are surprised by an originia design that no one knew was there.

The Results

  • Nice Surprise! The gable design on the front of this house was the original design that was covered in the 50's by the asbestos siding. We restored the wood and painted and sealed it and brought back to life this originial design.
