Two-Toned Exteriors with James Hardie® Siding

Whatever your home’s design, be it a Craftsman, Colonial or cottage, you want the palette you choose to complement your home’s character. Fortunately, when it comes time to choose your home’s exterior hues, if you opt for James Hardie® siding and trim with ColorPlus® Technology, each color choice is designed to be paired with one another.

James Hardie’s color experts created a curated palette with that intention in mind. Whether it’s creamy neutrals with a red accent, or a dark green with hint of gray—you seriously cannot go wrong with any James Hardie ColorPlus color combination. To prove this, we wrangled up a few standout homes, clad in colors you may not have initially chosen.

As it turns out, they work surprisingly well. Take a look for yourself…

Suburban Subtlety

This suburban home is clad in HardiePlank® lap siding in Chestnut Brown, straight edge HardieShingle® siding in Countrylane Red and HardieTrim® boards in Khaki Brown. Pairing brown and red siding colors with a lighter brown trim makes the home feel interesting not overwhelming.

Neutral and Balanced

This Minnesota abode sports HardiePlank lap siding in Aged Pewter, staggered edge HardieShingle siding in Monterey Taupe, with HardieTrim boards in Cobble Stone. The pairing of gray and taupe may not have been your original design choice, but the colors work together for a completely unique and harmonious combination.

Playing Off the Lake

With a pop of Boothbay Blue in the gables, these homeowners seem inspired by their lakefront property. The five gables vary siding options between straight edge HardieShingle siding in Monterey Taupe and HardiePanel® vertical siding in Boothbay Blue. The HardiePlank lap siding tone of Navajo Beige pulls the look together, and we love that despite the range of siding styles and colors, this home exterior looks simple and put-together.

Besides the range of complementary, curated colors, when you opt for the James Hardie palette, there’s the added benefit of ColorPlus Technology, a baked-on color process that helps resist fading, chipping and cracking. That means your siding and trim colors look fresh and bold longer with less maintenance. What’s the ColorPlus Technology process? Multiple coats of finish are applied to the surface and edges of the James Hardie siding and trim. Then between coats, the finish is cured in a controlled environment for an even stronger bond.

James Hardie believes in its ColorPlus Technology so much that it comes with a 15-year limited warranty that covers paint, labor, and protection against peeling, cracking and chipping.

From cool to warm, and neutral to dark, James Hardie’s collection of well-curated colors likely has a tone (or two) that speak to your taste. Go ahead, find the hues that are just right for your home— no matter which ones you choose, they’re sure to stay vibrant and complement one another.
